Kim paints a delicious picture of a time that was both simpler and yet more complex. You read the story knowing how it will end because it's the true love story of her parents. But the lighthearted glimpse into the love story of Brenda and Willard is really only the tip of the iceberg, for as you read along, you will uncover some of the secrets and coverups of the type that were not uncommon in Brenda and Willard's day. The emotions Kim shows - all the more real because this is a blunt story of her roots - run the gamut and will have the reader rooting for that happily ever after. I can think of only one thing to say that will truly do this story justice Just read it!
Last year when the tornadoes hit Alabama, six authors with Astraea Press pulled together an anthology to sell as a fundrasier to help those in need. That anthology, Matrimonial Mayhem, has recently been retired as having performed its job, and several of the authors are self-publishing their stories. This is Kim Bowman's. (And this is Kay Springsteen's Camp Wedding (Heartsight).)
I love love love Kim's story. It's one of the funniest romantic comedies I've read in a very long time. And the best part of it is, it's real. There's suspense, and emotion, and confusion, and a whole lot of laughter. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
